1994: Cogeneration unit System Anker

In September 1994 the ANKER cogeneration unit, developed in-house, came on stream. This is a small diesel-powered generating station that uses combined heat and power generation. The system offers the following advantages:

• The electricity required for bottle filling is produced in-house.
• Lost heat is used up to 90% to heat up the bottle-washing machine.
• The emissions produced neutralise the alkaline wastewater of the bottle-washing machine.
• Emissions are released by the neutralisation of carbon dioxide and particles of soot.

As a finished heating power station would have been too expensive, master brewer Fischer designed a system himself. In contrast to conventional heating power stations, control does not depend on electricity requirements, but on heat requirements. Thus, up to 90% of heat can be used. Electricity is simply a by-product. The 180 kW heat and 90 kW electrical energy provided by it cover the total heat and electricity requirements of the bottling facility.
